The 1st 'BEYOND GROUP' OPEN NATIONAL EXHIBITION OF DIGITALLY PROJECTED PHOTOGRAPHY has now been judged. It was a marathon task for the 3 eminent judges who had over 2800 images to go through. Nearly half of these were multi-award winning images, but alas the exhibition only needed 1/5th of the entries to be accepted. So a lot of cracking work has been unsuccessful this time round (my work included). But WOW what an exhibition it is going to be. Who said that Northerners were the friendliest people in England? I can't say that I found this to be the case in the North East of England during our recent visit 'Tup North'. At least not regarding the retail industry in the N.E. I felt as if I was interrupting their day and really struggled to get them to be civil, let alone get a smile out of them, despite buying their wares at the time! ......Backtrack...... The lady in the Goth Shop was super..... (Perhaps it was the pink hair that frightened the others). They certainly have no reason to be grumpy, as the city cultural amenities together with the gorgeous nearby coastline is superb. Having said this, the general public were great, very helpful and amiable. Perhaps the shop staff are just getting paid appalling wages! Anyway, CHECK OUT North East England for photos taken during our rather wet August vacation. >>> P.S. A very BIG thankyou to those who did proffer a warm welcome to us during our stay.

The only Angel of the North ? BARBIE HAS BEEN BACK TO DERBY FOR THE ANNUAL TATTOO CONVENTION WITH SUPERB BANDS PLAYING OVER THE WHOLE WEEKEND. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO GO ON THE SATURDAY. NEXT YEAR HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE ABLE TO DO THE WHOLE WEEKEND. GO TO State of the Art '08 TO SEE SOME OF THE PHOTOS TAKEN DURING THE DAY.
ASLO CHECK OUT LONDON in May FOR IMAGES TAKEN DURING BOTH OF THE MAY BANK HOLIDAYS IN LONDON. TWO BRILLIANT WEEKENDS WAS HAD, AS PER USUAL, IN THIS GREATEST OF PLACES IN THE WORLD. BARBIE WITH CAMDEN FASHION DESIGNER PATTI BELL ~ PHOTO COURTESY OF RUSTY LINDSAY THE LABOUR PARTY HAS BEEN GIVEN A HIDING AND DESERVEDLY SO TOO. I AM A STAUNCH SOCIALIST BUT THIS LABOUR PARTY HAS BECOME MORE CONSERVATIVE THAN THE CONSERVATIVES! GORDON BROWN THOUGHT IT WAS HIS RIGHT TO AUTOMATICALLY BECOME PRIME MINISTER WHEN TONY BLAIR STEPPED DOWN, BUT NOBODY WANTED HIM, AND THESE LOCAL ELECTIONS HAS REFLECTED THAT. STEP DOWN GORDON BEFORE YOU GET THROWN DOWN. DO THE COUNTRY A FAVOUR.

UNPAID NUDE MODELS REQUIRED FOR NEW PROJECT IN THE OFFING. MUST NOT HAVE PERFECT BODIES!! I NEED OVERWEIGHT, UNDERWEIGHT, AGING, ONE LEGGED ETC., ARE YOU WILLING? If so contact me on barbiefujis5@aol.com MY CAMDEN! MY BELOVED CAMDEN. Forget the 'Hawley Arms' (which may take 6 months to repair). What about my 'After Dark' Goth shop, & 'Punky Fish', 'G Heaven' & 'Concessions', amongst numerous other smaller vendors who are now totally out of business. We have been back to Camden several times since Easter and are as devastated as Camden Lock Market is itself. I was given to understand that only a small percentage of the traders were affected. NOT SO! The whole of the East side canal market is gone. Either totally burnt out (as was my favourite Goth shop) or they are no longer able to trade there. Some have relocated, but where to? They are supposedly going to rebuild but we haven't seen much progress except for the Hawley Arms.

Recently we were honoured to be one of the selectors for the very popular internet based digital images exhibition hosted by the Vale of Evesham Camera Club. An enjoyable if not busy day was had by all. A difficult job to narrow down winners from 2,400+ entries.

THE winners of the Vale of Evesham Camera Club National Photographic Exhibition 2008 were selected by judges at Wickhamford Village Hall on Saturday 8th. Entries were divided into four categories of colour, creative, monochrome and natural history and judges spent over seven hours choosing the winners from 2,426 entries, an increase of 23 per cent on last year. The gold medal winners for best image in each category were Colour - Simple Diet' by Christine Widdal from Saddleworth, Oldham; Creative - Flying high' by Matt Johnston from Houston, Scotland; Monochrome - Let Us Pray' by Graham Heywood from Nottingham; Natural History - Potato Grouper and Snappers' by Len Deeley from Wormley, Surrey. Club chairman John Kellet said: "We would like to thank our four distinguished PAGB accredited selectors Russell and Barbie Lindsay, Tony Wharton and Irene Froy. Their efforts, supported by the camera club team, has created another quality exhibition." Now in its sixth year, the original Evesham Camera Club exhibition was the first totally digital format exhibition in the UK. It hosts accepted entries on the internet, and to-date it is still the largest national digital entry photo exhibition in the country.

Slightly old hat news now................... Congratulations to Felixstowe Photographic Society, they are celebrating their Diamond Jubilee this year! photo by Jim Williams LRPS
They hold a very special place in my heart, as it was down to all of them, that my photography took off beyond all expectations. It was the first Camera club that I ever joined, they gave me the much needed encouragement to push myself further. Always willing to give friendly advise, tips etc., The likes of Basil, Granville, Claude, Tony, Wally, Peter, Steven, Ivan, Geoff & Dennis, to name but a few, who were such an inspiration to me. I THANK YOU. I would also like to thank them for including me in their recent jubilee celebrations. A good time was had by all. I also was judging at Felixstowe PS on my birthday and at the break I was presented with this lovely cake. Many thanks once again to all concerned.

Whilst Camden was burning back in Februaury, we were down in Swansea giving a lecture to Swansea Camera Club. Many thanks to Phil Davies and his lovely wife for giving us the use of their son's beautiful Seaview/Marina apartment for the few days that we were there. See Swansea Feb 2008 for some of the photographs taken during our stay. I have fallen in love with Swansea ! >>
Photo courtesy of Rusty Lindsay. I have just proved what I have always known, that excercise is bad for you! It is a dangerous pastime best to be avoided at all costs. Back in January I started jogging/brisk walking every morning at 6.30am. In February I tripped over a raised paving slab and fell like a goal keeper trying to save a goal and failing badly, and grazed my hands, knees and elbows in the process. Proof positive that excerise is dangerous! And NO I wasn't running in my high heels, perhaps I should have done. I was wearing pink trainers. Despite my lifelong motto that "I won't run if I can walk and I won't walk if I can be carried", I will be continuing this most dangerous of extreme sports. However, I have now purchased a treadmill and can exercise in the comfort and safety of my bedroom. Starting at 6.00am, usually with my eyes still closed for the first couple of minutes. IMPORTANT After recently hearing of a couple of horrendous examples of photographers being challenged and their rights being infringed, I think everyone should ckeck out UK Photographers rights
